June and July 2007
Two expeditions which evoked intrepid explorer Mary Kingsley's 1895 journey on the Ogooué River in present-day Gabon.
We travelled on the eco-barge Beauchamp from Paddington Basin and attempted to map Mary's recollections of the people, land, food, relgion and fauna of the Ogooué onto what we found in deepest West London.
